Defeatist performance beliefs (DPB) are linked to negative symptoms and functional outcome in schizophrenia (Campellone et al., 2016). Adolescents with early-onset psychosis (Adol_EOP) have more persistent negative symptoms (Puig et al., 2017). Objectives: (1) to examine DPB in Adol_EOP, (2) to study the relationships between DPB, symptoms and functioning. METHODS: 20 Adol_EOP (14♀, age=16.00±1.84) and 14 healthy controls (12♀, age=15.71±1.48), participants in a trial about CBSST in Hospital Clínic of Barcelona (baseline data). Inclusion criteria: EOP diagnosed between 9-18 years-old (schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, psychosis nos); within the 5 first years after disease onset; clinical stability. Exclusion criteria: IQ<70; substance dependence disorder; neurological disorders. Instruments: PANSS, Calgary Depression Scale (CDS), Children’s Global Assessment Scale, Life Skills Profile - Adolescent version (Puig et al., 2013). DPB was extracted from the Dysfunctional Attitudes Scale - Spanish version (Sanz et al., 1993). RESULTS: EOP and control groups were homogeneous in age (t=-0.49, p=0.634) and sex (X2=1.130, p=0.288). Socioeconomic status was lower in EOP (X2=13.34, p=0.010). EOP subjects had a predominance of negative symptoms (positive symptoms=13.95±3.94; negative symptoms=17.79±3.26). Mean score of CDS was low (4.95±5.52). EOP group had lower scores in all functional measures (t>6.78, p<0.001). EOP group had more DPB than controls (43.30±16.52 vs 30.86±13.36, t=2.33, p=0.026) and it was correlated with poorer life skills (r=0.53, p=0.023) but not with symptoms. DISCUSSION: Adol_EOP had higher levels of DPB. It was correlated with poorer psychosocial functioning but not with negative symptoms. DPB might have a different role in relation with symptoms in Adol_EOP. Acknowledgments: FAK.
