Traumatic experiences in childhood would cause dysregulations in the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis (HHAa) and alterations in cortisol levels1. OBJECTIVES: assess psychosocial adversity (AP) in adolescents with early onset psychosis (Adol_EOP); evaluate the relationship between AP and cortisol levels Adol_EOP. Methods: 15 Adol_EOP (11♀, age=15.33±1.23), 10 healthy controls (8♀, age=15.60±1.51), participating in CBSST trial in Hospital Clínic Barcelona. Inclusion criteria: EOP diagnosed between 9-18 years-old; within the 5 first years after the disease onset; clinical stability. Exclusion criteria: IQ<70; substance dependence disorder; neurological disorders. Instruments: CTQ scale (Childhood Trauma Questionnaire), determination of salivary cortisol at 08:00 a.m; BMI (Body mass index). Analysis: T-test, Chi-square test, Pearson correlation, partial correlation. Results. EOP and control groups were homogeneous in age (t=-0.49, p=0.632) and sex (X2=0.15, p=0.702) but not in SES, lower in patients (X2=10.69, p=0.030). PIP group had higher BMI (t=4.61, p=0.00) and higher scores in CTQ subscales of emotional abuse (t=15.80, p=0.01), physical negligence (t=8.50, p=0.007) and in their severity (t=16.73, p=0.00; t=5.62, p=0.026). Levels of salivary cortisol correlated positively with AP: emotional abuse (r=0.52, p=0.30), physical abuse (r=0.78, p=0.00) and severity (r=660, p=0.004), sexual abuse (r=0.926, p=0.00) and severity (r=0.650, p=0.005), physical negligence (r=0.616, p=0.008) and severity (r=714, p=0.001). These results were maintained controlling by SES and BMI. Conclusions. Adol_EOP had higher and more severe AP, which was associated with current higher levels of cortisol, supporting a dysregulation of the HHAa. Acknowledgments:FAK. 1. Lange C et al.
